My friend Mike gave his wife, Sheri a BEAUTIFUL and unique jewelry "box". I loved it but there was no way I could ever afford one, so I made one. Believe me, mine is no where near as nice as hers but I am very happy with mine.

I was in Walmart and saw a full length ressing mirror with a wide frame. It was really nice looking and the price was right, only $30. You can use any size mirror but I wanted one that would hold all my long necklaces (and everying else).

We bought 1x2 wood and made a frame that was a bit smaller than the mirror. We then put a backing of thin plywood on the frame (at this point it resembles a large tray).

We painted the frame edges black and then lined the inside with black felt. Next, we attached a piano hinge to one side and attached the mirror. On the other side I attached a magnet latch. I used clear push pins to hang the jewelry on. And that's it!! Everyone thinks it is just a dressing mirror. I hope if our house is ever broken in to, they will think the same thing.

Well here goes my first post and I owe it to or should I say blame it on www.Shanty2Chic.blogspot and www.betterafter.blogspot . Somehow I found them online and I've been hooked ever since. For a week I couldn't get Betterafter and I was almost frantic. lol I think I'm on the verge of addiction to looking at blogs and redoing furniture and recreating items I find at thrift stores. My friend Joy hasn't been any help either as she has introduce me to the world of auctions. lol I told myself I wasn't going again until I finish the hundred project I've have now.

I can tell you now that I will not post often but will look often at all the creative bloggers out there. Keep doing all the wonderful things you are doing so the rest of us can enjoy.
